We launch Living With Landmines,
a series of hard-hitting stories to help primary school teachers
convey the impact of landmines on the lives of children in
Croatia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bosnia, Mozambique and Afghanistan.
To
read or print the first of the stories, click here.
We produced the stories for Adopt-A-Minefield (UK), one of
the leading groups raising awareness of landmines problem,
and funding de-mining work. To
find out how you can help Adopt-A-Minefield (UK), click here.
We promote the global dimension in the writing of our stories
as well as their subject matter, and in Living With Landmines
we're delighted to showcase original stories by international
authors Sabina Horvat (Croatia), Krisna Uk (Cambodia), Adna
Sabljic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and many more.

primary schools – Grasmere and Betty Layward – where we help
children in Years 1, 2 and 6 write and produce their own webstories.
We produce Telling Tales for the Stoke Newington
Festival. A ‘virtual library’ of four free stories appeared
on the Festival website, and our team of roving storytellers
read the stories to children at the annual Big Sleepover event
in Clissold Park. Telling Tales was sponsored by
Sunstone Health and Leisure Club for Women and Happy Computers.

We get our first results from field trials
of Zergai & Jungai, a story we donated to children
in Afghan refugee camps. We produced versions of this story
in Dari, Farsi and Pashto and e-mailed them to Save the Children
Fund in Tajikistan and Islamabad for use in the refugee camps.
"In the last two weeks we have used the Zergai story
in different camps and the response was very good," wrote
SCF educational psychologist Wayne Bleier from Tajikistan.
"None of the children had seen a story book before. They
were able to get the message and we were able to use it to
illustrate that children need to stay with their parents to
prevent separation during migration."
Wayne distributed copies of the story to teachers and NGO
officers of UNICEF, IRC and HCR, and to children in the camps.
"Everyone loves the graphics," he said. "Yesterday
we had groups of children chanting "Zergai! Jungai!""
We launch our first Welsh story - Ana Lisa a'r Flanced
